If you are wanting to purchase a modern desk, there are several factors you should consider before making a purchase. Some of the things you should be thinking about are what the primary use of the desk will be, your style preferences, and your budget.

One of the most common uses of modern desks are for desktop and laptop computers. Sometimes this means the desks have special features most appropriate for use with computers.  Some examples of these features are a slide-out keyboard tray, a desktop tower shelf below the main working surface, additional lower shelves suitable to store power strips and printers, and cable management clips or holes. Being pleased with how your desk looks, especially when you keep it clean, can have a positive effect on your enjoyment and productivity levels while you are working at the desk. Another thing to consider is your budget and how it relates to your needs.  If you will be spending full days working at your desk, it makes sense to buy a higher quality desk that can last for several years and be as comfortable as possible. Higher quality desks will generally be constructed out of more durable and nicer materials, and have superior fit and finish, and are more expensive.  If you find your budget will not buy a new desk of the quality you actually need, consider some alternatives such as buying a used desk from local individuals on online classified sites, or used furniture stores.
